BWL Taipei

Gentle Orbit

Following the success of BWL Taichung, our long-term partnership with BWL evolved into the creation of a new regional customer centre in Taipei. Located within a commercial building, this single-floor project of approximately 5,200 square feet was conceived entirely as a destination for BWL’s customers, a space to experience the brand’s healthcare products, wellness ethos, and community spirit in a refined and immersive environment.

The central motif of this project is the circle — an eternal form deeply rooted in Taiwanese culture, symbolic of unity, balance, and renewal. Inspired by traditional architecture and garden pavilions, we reinterpreted the form as a contemporary sanctuary where customers gather, discover, and connect.

“The circle became a symbol for inclusivity and connection — a form that allows the architecture to embody BWL’s ethos of wellness and community in its purest sense.”

— Kenny Kinugasa-Tsui, co-founder of Bean Buro

At the heart of the showroom, a cylindrical green display wall rises like a tree or temple column, detailed with intricate joinery that suggests both crafted permanence and organic vitality. Above it, a circular artificial skylight creates a sublime shaft of light, evoking the sensation of standing beneath a canopy of nature. Customers are invited to circulate around this central element, with seating furniture radiating outward to encourage moments of pause and interaction.

This project builds upon the DNA established in Taichung, yet introduces a new level of sophistication. Our process was one of reflection and refinement: what could be improved, deepened, or elevated?

Customer journey mapping guided the placement of every function — from the reception counter to the wellness consultation rooms — while close collaboration with local craftsmen and contractors ensured that bespoke joinery and intricate finishes achieved both precision and environmental responsibility. The goal was to balance a space that feels both powerful and serene.

“Every iteration with BWL allows us to push the brand identity forward — this project exemplifies how design can become more sophisticated, sustainable, and emotionally resonant with each new centre.”

— Lorène Faure, co-founder of Bean Buro

The spatial composition unfolds in layers. Upon arrival, visitors are greeted by an Instagrammable corner with a rippled metallic ceiling inspired by water. Vertical LED lights rise alongside mirrored walls, reflecting into infinity to create a mesmerising, nature-inspired phenomenological experience.

The main showroom is defined by the central circular display wall and skylight — a sculptural gesture that anchors the space. A sculptural display table, reminiscent of natural rock formations, provides an additional focal point for BWL’s products. Surrounding this are customer service counters, wellness and skin consultation rooms, and a large event hall with operable partitions for flexibility.

In the sales lounge, a new feature — a large digital wall — curates dynamic content to inspire and inform customers. A children’s area integrates seamlessly into the plan, ensuring families feel welcomed and at ease.

The material palette continues BWL’s brand language of soft, nature-inspired tones — sandy beiges, gentle greens, and blush pinks — but here it is enriched with bronze-coloured metals that lend a sense of warmth and sophistication. The central cylindrical display wall, with its intricate joinery detailing, becomes a crafted focal point. Metallic accents throughout the showroom provide subtle strength and elegance, balancing the natural warmth of light timbers.

Sustainability was central to the project’s ethos. Locally sourced materials were prioritised, with careful attention to low-VOC finishes and environmentally responsible specifications.

Lighting design combined artificial skylights with dynamic retail illumination to highlight products while ensuring efficiency. Acoustics were carefully managed: absorbent finishes in the lounge and event hall ensure that conversations and activities remain comfortable and undisturbed.

Biophilic gestures were woven throughout: greenery is integrated into circulation areas and key gathering points, reinforcing BWL’s identity as a healthcare brand that champions wellness and sustainability.
