Born in Hong Kong, Kenny Kinugasa-Tsui is half Chinese and half Japanese. Kenny lived in the UK for 18 years, where he worked on various award winning projects as a project architect at Urban Salon Architects, and as an architectural assistant at Richard Rogers Partnership, before setting up Bean Buro in Hong Kong. Kenny was a design lecturer at the Royal College of Art, Oxford Brookes University, the Bartlett School of Architecture UCL, and École Spéciale d’Architecture. As a multi-cultural designer, Kenny experiments with ideas by overlapping research, academia with practice projects. Together with Lorene, he is the driving force for the practice’s creative process through rigorous and inventive conceptual methodologies. He enjoys reading and writing architectural subjects in his spare time, especially when he is on holiday.
Lorène Faure - Design Director
Bsc, G.Dip (Hons), PG.Dip Arch. DESA (hmonp), ARB, RIBA Associate
Lorène studied and worked under British renowned architect/critic Sir Peter Cook at CRAB. Her talent in producing inventive drawings has been a key driving force to her workplace and personal exploration in art and architecture. Lorène specialises in design, concepts and creative solutions. Her attention to detail and how things come together makes her extremely reliable in executing her visions. Lorène has been involved in the delivery of projects from concept stage to compiling detailed design drawings including extensive consultation with clients and manufacturers through to completion. Coming from Paris, Lorène’s friendly personality coupled with her passion and dedication makes her a great client liaison.
Elspeth Lee - Senior Architectural Designer
M.Arch, B.Sc (Arch)
Elspeth was born in Ireland and studied architecture at the University College Dublin and Bauhaus Universitat Weimar. She has a unique range of experiences gained from working in Dublin, Berlin, and Hong Kong, and has developed unique skills for joinery details and creating engaging visitor’s experiences. Since joining Bean Buro she has worked various prestigious projects including Warner Music workplace, Cheil Shanghai workplace and a residential clubhouse development for Nan Fung Group. She is a visiting critic at Hong Kong University and a weekend interior design lecturer. Elspeth’s gardening knowledge keeps all the plants flourishing in the studio.
Isabella Ducoli - Senior Architectural Designer
Isabella is a designer from Milan, and is especially interested in sustainability and the environment. Her masters thesis was a landscape proposal of hydroponic greenhouses along the Naviglio Grande in Milan. Since coming to Hong Kong, Isabella has worked on various prestigious F&B projects including Chetah Sungai Wang, Grassroots Pantry and Foxglove prior to joining our team. She has been a project designer at Bean Buro and worked on a luxurious private apartment in Hong Kong and a commercial retail renovation project at apm shopping mall Hong Kong. She has a taste for quirky metal and timber materials, and enjoys boxing and gymming in the weekends.
Pauline Paradis - Senior Interior Designer

Pauline moved to Hong Kong in 2014 from Paris, where she worked for a number of renowned french Interior design companies.
With a great eye and sensibility, Pauline’s expertise lay in interior, exhibition and product design. Her creativity, technical skills and thoroughness makes her a valuable member of our team. Pauline’s understanding of joinery and details makes her an ideal candidate to design bespoke furniture and custom architectural elements. At Bean Buro, Pauline has been the project designer for high end residential projects and furniture design.
Abby Liu - Architectural Assistant
BA (Hons), RIBA Part I Architectural Assistant
Abby is born in Hong Kong and studied architecture in the UK. She has joined the Bean Buro team after graduated from Oxford Brookes University with honours, with a strong academic background in designing social spaces. In her project she designed a new music venue in a historical buildings using acoustic bricks made of wax, as well as a day care home with green gardens. She enjoys making architectural models and drawings with a colourful palette and have worked on a series of exhibition drawings for the studio. Abby assists in liaising with our collaborators and publishers network.
Isabel is Spanish and acquired her Master degree in Architecture and Urban Planning at ETSAM, Technical University of Madrid. After completing her education she had the opportunity to come to China in 2012 where she worked as a lead architect on various office buildings, service duplex apartments. At Bean Buro, Isabel has been producing high quality technical designs on a range of interior architecture projects, including a residential clubhouse development for Nan Fung Group. She represented the National Badminton Team in Spain for two years and is a keen sports activities coordinator.
Tommy Hui - Architectural Designer
IFA (Dist), BArch (Hons), AA Dip, RIBA Part II Architectural assistant
Tommy is born in Hong Kong and graduated from the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London. He received a distinction in his architectural foundation studies and scholarships from both the Architectural Association and Bartlett Smartgeometry in 2013. Tommy was nominated for the AA Alex Stanhope Forbes Prize, and specialises in creating architectural processing graphics, programming, videography and digital fabrication (e.g. laser cutting, 3D prototype printing). Since joining Bean Buro Tommy has been the project designer for Kerry Logistics workplace projects, and a creative co-working workplace in Hong Kong. Being a true people person, he has previously volunteered for an Orphanage Refurbishment Project in Cambodia and a Community build in Indonesia.
Michelle Ho - Architectural Assistant
BArch (Hons), RIBA Part I Architectural Assistant
Michelle has joined the Bean Buro team after graduating from UCL The Bartlett School of Architecture London with upper class honour. In her academic project she analysed the “urban rituals” of London which resulted in a tailoring and dress shop that would allow trees and silkworms to co-habit with humans. With a strong academic background and intellect, Michelle is fast and furious in producing conceptual works. She has worked on the Kerry Logistics exterior art installations designed through iterative 3D printed models. Michelle enjoys being at the threshold with the external world by managing the materials and research library for the studio’s internal works… amongst managing to learn Japanese and practice Yoga.
Gigi Kwong - Architectural Assistant
BArch (Hons), RIBA Part I Architectural Assistant
Gigi graduated from Sheffield University UK in 2016 with honours. His academic project investigated in the use of textiles to create sleeping pods for office workers. Gigi has a particularly strong interests in kinetic spatial designs, his unique skills in graphics and illustration has helped the practice to excel in producing unconventional material colour palettes for a commercial refurbishment at apm Shopping Mall. Prior to joining Bean Buro, Gigi worked on a winning competition project for a mixed used office, retail, apartment and low density residential units scheme. Gigi enjoys travelling and photography, playing tuba in an orchestra, wargames and close quarter battles.
